Vail Cascade Resort Celebrates "Earth Hour"
Atwater on Gore Creek Hosts Candlelight Dinner
For Immediate Release:
Vail, Colorado—March 21, 2010--Atwater on Gore Creek located at the Vail Cascade Resort will hold a dinner illuminated only by hundreds of candles on the evening of March 27, 2010. Not only a romantic and reflective evening, the experiential event will outline the resort’s commitment to Destination Earth, a program of the conservation of natural resources, by celebrating Earth Day in this unique way. By choosing to operate under minimum electricity and other power resources, the Vail Cascade Resort demonstrates a pledge to recognize the need to preserve the world in which we live, and is dedicated to practices and programs that pay respect to, and lessen our footprint on our changing environment.
“Earth Hour” is a global initiative encouraging all power sources to be shut off for one hour to support the universal collective of energy savers on Earth Day. Vail Cascade Resort, and it’s featured restaurant, Atwater on Gore Creek, plan to extend efforts beyond one hour, choosing to designate the entire evening to the warm glow of candlelight and hospitality, and further exceed expectations with other earth-friendly elements by donating 10% of the evening’s proceeds to Habitat for Humanity.
The candlelight dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. on March 27. Reservations for the candlelight dining experience are strongly recommended and can be made by calling 970.479.7014. For further information on the resort and restaurant, the website can be viewed at vailcascade.com.
Vail Cascade Resort adopted the Destination Earth program with the knowledge that the resort’s customers and associates all benefit from a healthy, sustainable environment. The property has a designated “green team” onsite and has made a commitment to pursuing the following ideals:
Sourcing environmentally responsible services and products locally, and purchasing organic, environmentally friendly- and recycled supplies, whenever possible.
Purchasing fresh and sustainable foods locally grown, whenever possible.
Creating partnerships with other organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to preserving the environment.
Leading associates to apply eco-friendly practices in their daily operations.
