Cascade Christmas Returns Featuring Three Weeks of Family-Friendly Fun and Holiday Lodging That Gives Back

Vail Cascade Offers Christmas Present in the Form of a Vacation Credit for Holiday Stays

VAIL, Colo. – October 26, 2009 –The Vail Cascade is hosting a 17-day holiday celebration this year with nearly three weeks of family activities and festivities during the resort’s annual Cascade Christmas celebration Dec. 18 through Jan. 3, 2010. The resort also is offering a special holiday rate this year with its Powder to the People package that gives guests up to $150 in vacation credits.

Vail is a true winter wonderland during the holidays and the Vail Cascade is making it easier to book a mountain getaway during this special time of the year with its Powder to the People offer. The special package provides guests with incremental vacation credits the longer they stay – even during the holidays. Guests booking two nights get a $50 credit, stay three nights and receive a $100 credit or four night or more for a $150 credit. Rates over the holiday period begin at $399. While at the Vail Cascade over the holidays, guests can enjoy the resort’s annual Cascade Christmas festivities. Children and adults alike delight in visits from the reindeer and they’ll be back this holiday season. The reindeer will make brief appearances at the Cascade pre- and post-Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 26 from 6-8 p.m. Kids and families also will be able to take sleigh rides around the Cascade courtyard pulled by Santa’s helpers.

Kids of all ages can enjoy a unique line-up of activities featuring something different each night, including cookie decorating, construction of gingerbread houses, stocking and ornament decorating and more. Every night is movie night featuring children’s holiday favorites like Home Alone, The Santa Clause and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. nightly.

Adults also can get into the holiday spirit with wine tasting events every other night beginning Dec. 19 and continuing through Dec. 30 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Space for the wine tastings is limited, so reservations are recommended. The wine tastings are $20 per person. After sampling wine, adults also can sign up for a variety of cooking classes offered during the three weeks of the Cascade Christmas celebration. Cooking classes, led by Executive Chef Adam Votaw, take place Dec. 20, 22, 27 and 29 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and cost $20 per person. Two of the classes focus on cooking a seasonal favorite – lamb.

To ring in the New Year, the Cascade also will offer complimentary family portraits to capture the holiday cheer from 6 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 in the Library. A New Year’s Eve party follows in the Fireside Lounge with a balloon drop, party favors and Kevin LaCurrubba will be providing live entertainment until 1 a.m. Children under four years old may attend the celebration free of charge. The cost for kids ages 5-14 is $10 and for guests ages 15 and over is $25.
