Aria Club Launches New Altitude Training Programs for the Everyday Athlete
Professional trainers lead fitness and nutrition programs tailored for obstacle competitions, golf, tennis and bouldering
VAIL, Colo. – Apr. 5, 2013 – With spring upon us and summer drawing near, people – from the everyday athlete or leisure explorer to the couch potato – venture outdoors to enjoy Colorado’s playground. And for many, this adventure literally takes them to ‘elevated heights’ that can test even the most active athlete. As Vail Valley’s award-winning health and wellness center, Aria Club has launched a new ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ series that focuses on bursts of altitude training to sharpen game skills, mix up workout routines and give everyday athletes the abilities and confidence to compete in one of Colorado’s many outdoor events and races. The new series includes specialized programs for obstacle competitions, golf, and tennis. In addition to these programs, Aria will unveil a new 12-foot bouldering wall in July and has added nutritional and weight monitoring programs for athletes looking for a comprehensive approach to health and fitness.
“At Aria Club, we are committed to helping everyone dig deep to achieve their personal best,” said Shaun Evans, general manager at Aria Club & Spa. “We created the ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ series to give everyday athletes the support system, expert guidance and inspiration to go the distance. The rest is up to the individual.”
Obstacle Competition Training
There are muddy events for everyone -- from 5K to 12 miles, timed and untimed, and somewhat difficult to super difficult. Colorado is home to a myriad of these types of events, such as the Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, and Spartan Race. These types of events not only challenge participants physically, but mentally as well. Pre-conditioning is essential and Aria Club trainers have designed a training program that focuses on movement and work capacity development, obstacle simulation (indoors and outdoors) and then expands training volume to include distance runs and climbing obstacles outdoors. The program will offer weekday and weekend sessions. Starting Apr. 15- June 6, training programs will run Monday and Wednesday morning (6-7am) and Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:45-7pm). Starting May 25-June 8, weekend training programs will run on Saturday and Sunday (8:30-9:45am). Aspiring obstacle athletes can pay $80 to attend all weekday sessions or pay the $5 drop in fee per weekday or weekend session. Advanced sign up is requested. Pre-Season Golf Instruction
Earlier this year, Aria Club and the Vail Golf Club inked a partnership to offer traveling and local golfers pre-season training at Aria Club’s indoor hitting bay. Lessons will utilize video analysis to capture the golf swing and students will learn how TPI instruction bridges the gap between fitness and golf by incorporating exercises to increase performance and help improve physical limitations. Golfers can book a private 45- or 100-minute lesson with Vail Golf Club Head Professional Chris Johnson and Paul Bersagel, a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Trainer. Lessons are available by appointment only and are $75 per 45-minute lesson or $150 for a 100-minute lesson. For more information or book a lesson, call 734.323.3502 or visit www.vailgolfclub.net.
All Season Tennis Instruction
As Director of Aria Tennis and Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified instructor, Pete Anderson combines athleticism with tennis instruction to help students at all levels improve their game. Anderson instructs students year round using the club’s three indoor Vail tennis courts and creates tailored programs that focus on technique, footwork, positioning and game strategy. Lessons are available by appointment only and are $75 per hour or $280 for a four-pack, one hour session. For more information or to book a lesson, call 970.479.5941 or visit www.ariaspaclub.com.
New Bouldering Wall at Aria Club, Vail's premier fitness facility
Starting in July, Aria Club will feature a new adventure for members and guests to conquer - a 12x20 foot bouldering wall with custom designed sculpted arêtes, dihedrals, overhangs, and roofs. The new concrete textured wall will feature a range of moderate to difficult angles and hand holds that will challenge even the most experienced climbers. Starting in mid-summer, Aria trainers will launch bouldering wall classes that will combine climbing techniques with aerobic and weight training exercises for a total body workout. The bouldering wall will be open during club hours to all members free of charge and hotel guests will have access for a nominal fee.
Nutrition & Weight Monitoring

Through this program, clients will learn how to optimize training and workouts through meals, supplements, and proper nutrient ratios and timing. Hagan is also experienced in weight management, meal planning, and prevention or management of chronic diseases. Sessions are available by appointment only and are $83 per hour or $350 for the “Eat Well, Be Well” package, which includes a one-hour initial consultation and five 30-minute follow-up sessions.
