PINK VAIL Date: Sat, March 9, 2013

Location: Lionshead base Website: www.pinkvail.com

What is Pink Vail? The world’s biggest ski day to conquer cancer – benefiting Shaw Regional Cancer Center's survivorship program.

Is this a race? No. Participants can ski their hearts out, chill on Garfinkel’s deck or grill out at Blue Sky Basin if they want. The goal is to simply get sponsors for your day on Vail Mountain.

How do you raise funds? Just like asking someone to sponsor your walk or run for a summer breast cancer event, you are asking friends and family to sponsor your ski day.

How much does it cost to participate? Registration is $25/person and includes event credentials (lift tickets not included). Participants are encouraged to raise funds by asking friends and family to sponsor your ski day. The more you raise, the more prizes you are eligible for — and the more our community cancer center benefits.

How many people can be on a team? 2 or 200 - as many as you want.

What is the Checkpoint Challenge? If you are looking for something fun to do during the day, you can hunt five famous Vail decks between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pink Vail volunteers will be at the decks to punch your Pink Vail pass and give you a Pink Vail poker card – take all five cards to the poker table back at base camp and win prizes.

What is the Celebration Ski Down? Survivors, friends and family and those skiing in honor of a loved one are invited to meet at Eagles Nest at 4 p.m. (at the top of the gondola). After a spirited rally, this group will ski down Simba into Lionshead Village to kick off the evening festivities.
