End of Season Fun at Vail Ski Resort

With only 17 days until closing day at Vail Ski Resort, Vail Cascade is sharing the love for all-things-winter. Mother Nature has been blessing our Colorado family vacation destination with great snow! Yes - with more than 24 feet of snow this winter season in Vail, snow enthusiasts are doing snow angels in celebration. But, the fun continues as we count down the days until closing day.

The annual Taste of Vail is one of the town's favorite spring events in Vail. This year the annual Taste of Vail Lamb Cook-Off will joins with the Après Ski Tasting to create a true Après Ski Party. The food will be great as Atwater on Gore Creek, a top restaurant in Vail, will be participating. Sample an array of lamb dishes, courtesy of the Vail Valley's finest chefs and the Colorado Lamb Board. In the theme of "Life Beyond Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot" Taste of Vail's participating wineries will be showcasing wines a wide array of varietals that include Reisling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Zinfandel. The Taste of Vail runs April 2-5, 2014. Learn more about the Taste of Vail.

The legendary World Pond Skimming Championships returns to Lake Golden Peak at Vail Mountain’s Golden Peak base area on April 20, 2014. The venue will open at 1:30 p.m. with expos and giveaways from event sponsors, and the competition will get going at 3:00 p.m.

The annual competition entails floatable (and sometimes sinkable) athletes launching themselves off an on-snow jump onto an icy pond in attempt to successfully exit the pond on both feet. Competitors will vie for both fame and glory in a showing that defies the laws of physics – and perhaps even common sense.
