Atwater Beer Buzz May 31

Greetings!

What a beautiful, sunny, picture-perfect Memorial Day Weekend it was! The ideal way to kick-off a sunny season of fantastic events and adventures at the Vail Cascade. Evening Dive-In Movies at the pool, S’mores at the fire pit on the pool deck, and more…

AC Golden brought our Wednesday Craft Beer Tastings to life once again, with their Apricot Sour and Colorado Native on hand for guests and locals alike. There were several folks who tried sours for the first time, and it’s always cool to expand craft beer horizons. Heartfelt thanks to Kordi for filling in and spending time with us, as Cody was stuck behind the Debeque rock slide.

Next week Sarah will be joining us on Wednesday from Left Hand Brewing Co., so mark your calendars for 4:30 – 6:30pm and get ready for some tasty treats! She will be bringing Left Hand Juju Ginger, Sawtooth, Stranger Pale Ale, Milk Stout and a special bottle of Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout as a treat. Remember that you can make an early dinner of it with our $2 pizza slices, too!

We have been doing Cicerone Beer Server studying over the off-season, and are getting everyone ready to take the exam. The F&B team has been excited to soak up additional craft beer knowledge, and I’ll be curious to see who is interested in pursuing their certification. The Vail Cascade has stepped up to the occasion and approved the Beer Server Certification as ‘continuing education’, so those who do pass the test will be refunded their exam fee for their efforts. If you’re interested in pursuing your own certification, you can get more details here.

Atwater Sweepstakes are going strong, and people are jumping on board to enter for their free seats & one night stay at the Cascade this summer during our Brewmaster’s Weekends. If you haven’t entered yet, head over to www.AtwaterSweepstakes.com to get your name entered for as many of the opportunities as you’d be able to attend.

Sip, Savor & Brew on Gore Creek is less than one month away! We’re really excited to roll out our first intense craft beer weekend with Kevin DeLange from Dry Dock Brewing Co. and Bill Eye from Prost Brewing Co. Come join us for a craft beer immersion weekend in the mountains and spoil yourself a little while you’re at it. The rates for lodging don’t get any better than this, and it’s going to be a fantastic weekend! For more information, check out our webiste for dining offers

Atwater on Gore Creek is celebrating your birthday! With proof of your birth date on your birthday, you receive a free entrée when you dine with us. So what better excuse to do a full beer pairing dinner? That’s a birthday treat indeed!

Vail Valley Locals are about to receive an additional treat! Starting today, if you show proof of local residency you get 20% off of your entrée. That makes dining out a lot more accessible, and we look forward to seeing our locals more often. Perhaps dining with us after sampling our craft beers on Wednesday afternoon…that would be an ideal evening. With your American Homebrewers Association membership card, you get 20% off of your craft beer too!

Flights and Bites continues daily between 3 & 6pm and 9 & 11pm, and offers 50% off of a Small Plate when you purchase a Craft Draft Flight. That flight is currently:

  • Hofbrau München Hefe Weisse
  • Alaskan Amber
  • Eddyline Crank Yanker IPA
  • Bonfire Tent Pole Porter
  • Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Cider

Our Springtime in the Rockies is a little unpredictable, but we always know the sunshine will be back soon. Come join us for some great adventures and amazing craft beer!

Thank you for your support of our program!

Atwater Beer Buzz May 31

Greetings from the Cascade Craft Beer World!

We have exciting programming starting Friday with our Brewmaster’s Weekend, announcement for the Brewmaster’s Calendar in November, and our weekly Friday Night Flights updates to bring you today.

First, this weekend brings us not only the Teva Mountain Games but our June Brewmaster’s Weekend with Bonfire Brewing Co and Crazy Mountain Brewing Co.  Our Vail Valley Brewmaster’s Weekend hosts Crazy Mountain Owners Kevin & Marisa Selvy and Bonfire Owners Andy Jessen & Matt Wirtz. All weekend we will be featuring Crazy Mountain Lava Lake Wit & Mountain Livin’ Pale specials as well as Bonfire Firestarter IPA specials.

On Friday we will be featuring Bonfire Owner/Brewmaster Matt Wirtz and Crazy Mountain Owner/Brewmaster Kevin Selvy for an open complimentary sampling in our Fireside Bar from 4pm – 7pm. Stop by to sample, meet the Brewmasters and mingle with other guests catching the craft beer wave!

Saturday afternoon at 4pm we will join the culinary team forces with the Brewmaster forces for an outstanding Small Plates and Craft Beer Pairing. Andy Jessen and Kevin Selvy will speak to their individual beers (listed below) and Executive Chef Todd Bemis and his team will discuss the food pairings and inspiration behind them. The session will last 1 – 1 ½ hours, and walks you through 4 appetizer size pairings and their respective craft beer samples. The cost for this session is $20 per person, and reservations are recommended.

View the complete schedule of events here.

And you can also email me at llodge@destinationhotels.com if you’d like for me to hold seat(s) for you.

Next on the Brewmaster’s Weekend radar I am pleased to announce that Peter Bouckaert, Brewmaster for New Belgium Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, CO has confirmed for Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 23-24th). This will be a double-Brewmaster weekend as well, and Peter is inviting a colleague of his choice to join us. Put it on your calendar, and celebrate turkey day (or just the weekend) with us!

More immediately, this week’s Friday Night Flights are happening…and with lots of Crazy Mountain & Bonfire flair!

Remember, free valet parking!!

Friday’s Featured Flight ($7) is:

Crazy Mountain Lava Lake Wit
Rogue Dead Guy (Maibock)
Crazy Mountain – Mountain Livin’ Pale Ale
Bonfire Firestarter IPA
Oskar Blues Old Chub

And our Craft Draft Sampler (also $7) is:

We hope to see you this weekend for our Brewmaster’s Weekend and everything else that’s going on! But if you got a ticket to the Avery Sour Fest, I absolutely understand and we’ll see you for the Avery Brewmaster’s Weekend July 6 & 7 in Vail!

Have a fabulous week!
