Atwater Beer Buzz December 4

Let the snow games begin!

This morning we can boast about a foot of snow, and it’s still coming down! Time for a snowman, making angels in the snow, a snowball fight…and to get up on the mountain for some amazing runs. Vail has more than 40 runs open – probably adding more today! - which is fantastic for this time of year.

We’re celebrating with our Brewmaster’s Weekend this Friday & Saturday, so come up and play in the snow with us…and enjoy some AC Golden treats afterward. Steve “Fletch” Fletcher will be here from AC Golden Brewing Co. from 4 – 7pm on Friday for “Meet the Brewmaster” in Fireside, visiting with everyone and pouring complimentary samples of a variety of AC Golden products. Stop in as you can, and enjoy complimentary parking, too!

Saturday will be our Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing at 6pm in Atwater on Gore Creek, and Fletch will be co-hosting the event with the Atwater Culinary Team. Enjoy a guided tour of four small plates created for the four AC Golden beers selected for the event. It’s a tasty tour and a fantastic opportunity to hear about both the craft beers from the brewers who create them & the amazing food from the team that has prepared it for you. Click here to view the menu. The price tag is a mere $25++/person. Make your reservations by emailing Laura or calling 970-479-1514.

There’s a new promotion beginning this week called “Craft on Draft Hoppy Hour” in Fireside. Flights & Bites has been replaced with Hoppy Hour, which is a slightly different equation: When you purchase a regularly priced Small Plate from the Atwater on Gore Creek menu, you get $2 off a draft beer. This offer is valid from Sunday through Wednesday, 2–4pm and 9–10pm.

There are several new items on our craft beer list this week, with more on the horizon:

  • Trinity Sunna Wit, Colorado Springs, CO  (draft)
  • Fuller’s ESB, London, UK  (draft)
  • Great Divide Nomad, Bohemian Pilsner, Denver, CO
  • Stone Levitation, Amber, Escondido, CA
  • Lost Abbey Mayan Apocalypse,  Abt/Quadrupel, San Marcos, CA

Our draft rotation through the middle of January is in place, and you can enjoy $2 off pints of the following for Hoppy Hour:

  • Trinity Sunna Wit
  • Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale
  • Fuller’s ESB
  • Avery IPA
  • Samuel Adams Winter Bock

A quick heads up for everyone that I am passing the baton to Meagan Francisco, who will be the new coordinator of the Vail Cascade Craft Beer Program. Meagan is the General Manager of Atwater on Gore Creek, is a Cicerone Certified Beer Server, and really loves craft beer! Starting next week, if you’d like information about the Vail Cascade Craft Beer Program please reach out to Meagan at MFrancisco@destinationhotels.com. If you’d like to reach me, I will be available at LLLodge@hotmail.com or at bigbeersfestival@hotmail.com

A tremendous thank you to everyone for your support in creating and growing this craft beer program! It’s been a fantastic experience, and I hope that you will all continue to support Meagan as you have supported me. Three cheers to craft beer, and I look forward to seeing you this weekend to celebrate Brewmaster’s Weekend with AC Golden.

Enjoy the snow!
