Atwater Beer Buzz August 24
Greetings from the cooler!
It is starting to cool down a bit, and the chilly Fall temperatures are creeping in for the late evening and early morning. We’re not ready to let summer go yet, but it’s exciting to look forward to Oktoberfest season and our beautiful golden landscape!
Before we launch into Oktoberfest, we're pleased to share with you our tremendously successful Brewmaster’s Weekend with Doug Odell, Founder/Brewmaster of Odell Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, Colorado! We are hitting the radar of many locals at this point, and it’s a pleasure to see everyone so excited to visit and sample all of the goodies that Doug brought with him. Many of our guests at check in were making it a point to be available on Friday evening to meet, greet, and sample as well…before they settled in for their evening activities, whether it be a “Dive In Movie” at the pool, dinner in Atwater or exploring the Village.
Saturday’s Small Plates & Craft Beer session was equally successful, selling all available seats and generating a wonderful buzz with the incredible pairings that the Atwater culinary team provided for each course. The most interesting pairing from the culinary side was the Brulèed Bone Marrow with Odell Myrcenary Double IPA, as many people were trying bone marrow for the first time…and discovering that it paired perfectly with the Myrcenary! For the finale, Odell Milk Chocolate Stout really was outstanding…and the almond gelato & biscotti allowed it to shine.
Looking forward into that magical Oktoberfest season, our next Brewmaster’s Weekend is scheduled for September 7 & 8th…and it’s several small breweries that are most definitely making their mark on the Colorado beer scene. John Carlson, Executive Director of the Colorado Brewers Guild has gathered together Jason Yester from Trinity Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs, John Bricker from Three Barrel Brewing Co. in Del Norte, and Jim Stinson from Rockyard Brewing Co. in Castle Rock for one amazing weekend. Come join us!
Our Friday “Meet & Greet” will be the same as always: 4–7pm in Fireside for open tasting with the Brewmasters, but this time to the power of 3 breweries + the Colorado Brewers Guild! And, we will be taking our Small Plates Pairing format and expanding that into a formal, coursed dinner this time, showcasing each brewery for one course and then adding a couple of selections by John Carlson for our appetizer course. The dinner will be in a private room, and is only open to 30 people. Cost will be slightly higher, at $50 plus tax and gratuity per person.
The menu will be out early next week, and if you’re interested in attending, we suggest making your reservations as soon as possible. This will fill up quickly!
You can reach Atwater reservations at 970-479-7014 or can email Laura for reservations.
Our Friday Night Flights are about to take an off-season spin, and starting next week the Craft Draft Flight will be only $5.00 on Fridays. Our Featured Flight will still be available weekly, and will remain $7.
Flights and Bites will continue, but will adjust slightly as well. Starting next week you will be able to get a delicious $5.00 small plate from the Atwater on Gore Creek menu whenever you purchase a Craft Draft Flight, and that’s available every day from 4–7pm.
