Atwater Beer Buzz October 28

Greetings!

Planning season is underway, with talks of Thanksgiving dinner and Holiday seasonal specialty beers mixed in with our Halloween costume contest. It’s really a holiday scramble, but the best kind with terrific ideas and fantastic adventures coming your way!

On the craft beer radar, our next Brewmaster’s Weekend will be December 6 & 7 with Steve Fletcher of AC Golden Brewing Co. We’re excited to get samples from Steve this week for the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event, so menu development will be underway shortly!

AC Golden Brewmaster’s Weekend will have our traditional format, with Meet the Brewmaster on Friday evening from 4–7pm for a complimentary tasting of a variety of AC Golden craft beers. The Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing adventure is Saturday at 6pm, with a guided tour through the four pairings from both the Atwater Culinary Team and our AC Golden featured guest. Make your reservations early, as it’s going to be a busy time of the year!

Special note: Remember to sign up for the Atwater Sweepstakes at www.AtwaterSweepstakes.com in order to win a free night at Vail Cascade plus two seats to the AC Golden Brewmaster’s Weekend Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event!

Wednesday’s Craft Beer Tasting was a huge success this week, with nearly everyone in the hotel coming down to experience the tasting and learn about Ska’s beers from Casey Ryan. Since this is a slower time of the year, it’s tough to predict what the turnout will be on any given week, and the crowd – both local and hotel guests – really enjoyed their beer selection and hanging out in Fireside. Nice job, and thank you so much Casey!

Next week you can look forward to special Halloween treats from Great Divide Brewing Co. in Denver. Tracey Kling will be on hand with a diverse collection of craft beers, including Nomad Pilsner, Hoss Rye Lager and Hibernation Ale. In addition, she’s going to see what treats she can snag from the brewery, so come on by to check it out! 4:30–6:30, Fireside Bar, complimentary craft beer tasting & 20% off Atwater Small Plates…see you then!

No new beers on the list to report this week, although we have a couple of fun things waiting in the wings!

Flights and Bites continue with our Fall Craft Draft Selection, including the following:

  • Prost Weisbier
  • Hoegaarden
  • Samuel Adams Octoberfest
  • Epic Escape to Colorado IPA
  • Tommyknocker Maple Nut Brown

Come on in and enjoy a leisurely evening by the fireplace or down listening to Gore Creek enjoying the crisp mountain air! Lots of reasons to visit right now, with our 3 for $33 special in Atwater and 20% off of our entrees for locals. Room rates are also terrific, and if you’d like to come visit check out our special craft beer booking rates here: www.vailcascade.com and use the promo code VCBeer1.

Enjoy a fantastic week!

Atwater Beer Buzz October 21

Greetings from the world of crunchy white stuff!

Well, if this is practice, it’s going to be a splendid ski season in Vail. We’re consistently getting snow; enough that we’ve decided that the impossibly short Fall is really over - and we need to go find the stashes of snow & get our skis ready to go!

It was a fantastic Great American Beer Festival in Denver last week, and wonderful to see so many of our beer industry friends. I was excited to see some of our local regulars to the Vail Cascade Craft Beer Program having fun in the Farm to Table Pavilion! That was a super bright spot in my weekend. 

If you’re interested in seeing more about the Great American Beer Festival, you can learn more here: http://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/ and if you’d like to peruse the award winning breweries and their beers, you can find them here: http://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/the-competition/winners/. The Farm to Table Pavilion was a real treat, with terrific brewers, beers, chefs, and food pairings. Kudos to everyone who makes this wonderful festival happen at the Brewers Association!

This week’s Wednesday Craft Beer Tasting was all about Goose Island Beer Co., and Robin brought a variety of stylistic choices that seemed to make everyone happy. In addition to enjoying Matilda, Pere Jacques and Goose Island IPA, there was a lot of interest in learning about the brewery. Many people did not know yet that we can get Goose Island in Colorado, and I’m sure more will be looking for them wherever they live. (Colorado or not) Many thanks to Robin for her time and gracious donation of great beer and product knowledge.

Next week’s host will be Ska Brewing Co., and Casey Ryan will be pouring a selection of Ska products from Durango, CO. He’s talking about including Ska True Blonde Ale (Gold medal at the GABF this year!), Euphoria Pale Ale, Ska ESB and Modus Hoperandi. As always, the tasting is complimentary, from 4:30 – 6:30pm, in the Fireside Bar, with 20% off Small Plates during the tasting. The Cajun Snack Mix is establishing its own following, too!

This week also marks the beginning of the Aria Athletic Club’s renowned Ski Conditioning program. This started off with a bang on Monday, and we celebrated the first week with a Ski Conditioning party on Wednesday evening. Many thanks to Epic Brewing Co. for sponsoring the party and bringing tasty treats for everyone to enjoy. Ariell poured Blue Ski Lager (ever so appropriate!!), Sour Apple Saison, Imperial IPA and Copper Cone Pale Ale. I’d have to say that the Copper Cone might have bested the Sour Apple in overall feedback, but everything was very well received and highly appreciated.  Thanks again to Epic and Ariell!

New on our craft beer list this week are the following:

  • Boulevard Bob’s ’47 Oktoberfest, Kansas City, MO
  • Bear Republic Black Racer, Black IPA, Healdsburg, CA
  • Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA, Milton, DE

Craft beer Flights and Bites special remain in full swing throughout our Fall season – featuring 50% off of the small plate of your choice when you purchase our Craft Draft Flight. We currently are featuring the following on draft:

  • Prost Weisbier
  • Hoegaarden
  • Samuel Adams Octoberfest
  • Epic Escape to Colorado IPA
  • Tommyknocker Maple Nut Brown

Don’t forget about the special Vail dining promotions running in Atwater on Gore Creek, too! You can enjoy our 3 courses for $33 menu options, take advantage of the 20% off entrees for Vail Valley locals, or check the Vail Daily for other interesting deals. We always offer 20% off of our entire craft beer list for American Homebrewers Association members (with their card) as well.

There’s lots of ways to enjoy Vail Colorado's best restaurant and the Fireside Bar. Come join us!

Have a terrific weekend!

:) Laura
