Atwater Beer Buzz October 19

Greetings from crunchy Vail!

Let the snow begin! We’ve had our first couple of “scrape your windshield” mornings, and snow on the deck. It’s more of the icy, crunchy kind to be sure, but it’s white and it’s encouraging!

Our Atwater Sweepstakes is underway. We'v attached the information below, complete with QR code. You can win a night at the Vail Cascade + 2 seats at the Brewmaster’s food pairing event for any of our Brewmaster’s Weekends through April. You can register at, and we’ll draw about 30 days prior to each Brewmaster’s Weekend. Good luck!!

Wednesday Nights are turning into a great evening for us with our weekly complimentary craft beer tasting and $2 pizza slices! Josh poured some terrific Left Hand treats last night to a steady stream of interested and happy guests and locals. They tasted the Left Hand “flagships”, Sawtooth & Milk Stout Nitro, as well as Warrior Fresh Hop and Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout. Congrats to Left Hand for their Sawtooth medal at GABF, and thanks to Josh for being here last night to support our programming!

Next Wednesday you can look forward to Oskar Blues goodies from 5:30 – 7:30pm as well as those tasty pizza slices. Dylan will be bringing up the following beers from their Lyons/Longmont world for your sampling pleasure: Dale’s Pale Ale, G’Knight Imperial Red Ale, Ten Fidy Imperial Stout and Deviant Dale’s IPA. Join us!

New Belgium’s Peter Bouckaert and Wynkoop’s Andy Brown will be joining us for the next Brewmaster’s Weekend, and we're happy to share with you the 4 beers that will be included in their Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairings on Saturday, November 24th.  Our staff is excited to design a really cool menu around these diverse and interesting beers, and you can sample them with the Brewmasters & our culinary team. Event will begin at 5pm and run until about 6:30pm. Reservations are available by calling 970-479-7014, and the cost is $25/person.

Two of the beers that will be presented are collaboration beers called Brewjolais Nouveau, the first brewed in 2011 and the other more recently in 2012.  These are brewed around the time of the grape harvest, and are interesting, complex beers. The third is Wynkoop’s Belgorado IPA, and the final beer is New Belgium’s Peach Porch Lounger, a collaboration with G Love that is part of their Lips of Faith series. Once a menu has been finalized we'll share it with you via our blog and and Facebook.

On to this week’s current updates! There have been no changes to the craft beer list, although there are several waiting in the wings for the last few bottles to move through from their predecessor.

This week’s Friday Featured Flight ($7) will be:

  • Dogfish Head Tweason’ale
  • Victory Prima Pils
  • Avery IPA

Vail Cascade is Putting the "Thanks" Back in "Thanksgiving"

As you walk the grocery aisles at your local grocery store, you are probably noticing all the signs that Thanksgiving is near. For some, this annual tradition will include a simple gathering of friends and family, but for some, this meal is one event they want to avoid all together. From the grocery store shopping to cooking all the food to cleaning up all the mess, Thanksgiving can sometimes be more of a challenge than a holiday to look forward to.

Our Atwater culinary team at Vail Cascade Resort knows all too well about getting prepared for this special Thanksgiving occasion in Vail Colorado. Why not take the hassle out of the Thanksgiving and let our team do all the work? That way you can focus on what’s really important – giving thanks and sending time with loved ones.

Join us for a Thanksgiving Buffet in Atwater on Gore Creek, located at Vail Cascade Resort.

  • Thursday, November 22, 2012
  • 1:00-5:00pm
  • $49 per adult (plus tax and gratuity)
  • $12 per child (5-12 years)

Vail Cascade, a Mountain Resort, Commemorates Veteran’s Day with a Complimentary Meal & Special Rate

This Veteran’s Day, the Vail Cascade Resort salutes the men and women that have dedicated their lives to serve and protect the red, white and blue. General Manager, Brett Schoenfield invites all active and retired service personnel to come to Atwater on Gore Creek, the hotel’s signature restaurant, on Nov. 11 to enjoy a complimentary meal and magnificent views of Vail’s fall foliage. Additionally, military interested in an extended getaway can take advantage of $99 rates starting rate now through Nov. 15, a savings of up to 40 percent.

Soldiers know firsthand that a home cooked meal and a restful night’s sleep are hard to come by when deployed. While Schoenfield recognizes that the Vail Cascade Resort cannot single handedly make up for the number of missed home cooked meals, late nights or early risings, the hotel aims to do their part to narrow the margin one meal and one room night at a time.

“We are grateful to all military men and women, past and present, that have selflessly given of themselves to serve and protect our country, said Schoenfield. “We are grateful for the time they've served on our behalf and it is now our turn to serve them.”

A Hospitable ‘Thank You’

The Vail Cascade Resort commemorates Veteran’s Day with two special promotions available to all active and retired military personnel. Valid military ID is required for both promotions.

  1. On Nov. 11, military personnel can enjoy a complimentary meal in Atwater on Gore Creek. Guests can come in for breakfast (7:00am-11:00am); lunch (11:30am-3:00pm) or dinner (5:00pm-10:00pm). Guests can order a complimentary entrée and beverage from the existing restaurant menu. No other purchase is required and all taxes are included. Gratuity and alcoholic beverages are excluded and advanced reservations are recommended. To make a reservation, please visit Atwater on Gore Creek or call (970) 479-7014.
  2. Military guests interested in an extended fall stay in Vail can take advantage of Vail Cascade Resort’s $99 military starting rate now through Nov. 15. This promotional rate is valid on all hotel room types and guests must use promotion code VCMILITARY2012 at time of booking online at or via phone at 800.282.4183. This rate is valid on new reservations only, cannot be combined with other deals and other restrictions may apply.
