Atwater Beer Buzz August 24

Greetings from the cooler!

It is starting to cool down a bit, and the chilly Fall temperatures are creeping in for the late evening and early morning. We’re not ready to let summer go yet, but it’s exciting to look forward to Oktoberfest season and our beautiful golden landscape!

Before we launch into Oktoberfest, we're pleased to share with you our tremendously successful Brewmaster’s Weekend with Doug Odell, Founder/Brewmaster of Odell Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, Colorado! We are hitting the radar of many locals at this point, and it’s a pleasure to see everyone so excited to visit and sample all of the goodies that Doug brought with him. Many of our guests at check in were making it a point to be available on Friday evening to meet, greet, and sample as well…before they settled in for their evening activities, whether it be a “Dive In Movie” at the pool, dinner in Atwater or exploring the Village.

Saturday’s Small Plates & Craft Beer session was equally successful, selling all available seats and generating a wonderful buzz with the incredible pairings that the Atwater culinary team provided for each course. The most interesting pairing from the culinary side was the Brulèed Bone Marrow with Odell Myrcenary Double IPA, as many people were trying bone marrow for the first time…and discovering that it paired perfectly with the Myrcenary! For the finale, Odell Milk Chocolate Stout really was outstanding…and the almond gelato & biscotti allowed it to shine.

Looking forward into that magical Oktoberfest season, our next Brewmaster’s Weekend is scheduled for September 7 & 8th…and it’s several small breweries that are most definitely making their mark on the Colorado beer scene. John Carlson, Executive Director of the Colorado Brewers Guild has gathered together Jason Yester from Trinity Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs, John Bricker from Three Barrel Brewing Co. in Del Norte, and Jim Stinson from Rockyard Brewing Co. in Castle Rock for one amazing weekend. Come join us!

Our Friday “Meet & Greet” will be the same as always:  4–7pm in Fireside for open tasting with the Brewmasters, but this time to the power of 3 breweries + the Colorado Brewers Guild! And, we will be taking our Small Plates Pairing format and expanding that into a formal, coursed dinner this time, showcasing each brewery for one course and then adding a couple of selections by John Carlson for our appetizer course. The dinner will be in a private room, and is only open to 30 people. Cost will be slightly higher, at $50 plus tax and gratuity per person.

The menu will be out early next week, and if you’re interested in attending, we suggest making your reservations as soon as possible. This will fill up quickly!

You can reach Atwater reservations at 970-479-7014 or can email Laura for reservations.

Our Friday Night Flights are about to take an off-season spin, and starting next week the Craft Draft Flight will be only $5.00 on Fridays. Our Featured Flight will still be available weekly, and will remain $7.

Flights and Bites will continue, but will adjust slightly as well. Starting next week you will be able to get a delicious $5.00 small plate from the Atwater on Gore Creek menu whenever you purchase a Craft Draft Flight, and that’s available every day from 4–7pm.

On to current news…new on our craft beer list this week is:

  • Left Hand 400 Pound Monkey

This week, our Friday Night Featured Flight ($7) is as follows:

  •  Weihenstephan Hefe-Weiss
  •  Dogfish Head Festina Pêche
  •  Left Hand 400 Pound Monkey
  •  Dixie Blackened Voodoo
  •  Samuel Adams American Kriek

And our Craft Draft Flight ($7) continues as:

  •  Kronenbourg 1664
  •  Odell St. Lupulin
  •  Samuel Adams Octoberfest
  •  Sierra Nevada Torpedo
  •  Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Soak up those last summer rays, and come join us for Oktoberfest! Vail will be celebrating its first Oktoberfest weekend on September 7 & 8 as well, so you can enjoy the Vail version and wrap it up with an amazing craft beer experience at Atwater on Gore Creek in the Vail Cascade.

Thank you all so much for your support!

Greetings from the keg cooler!

We’re starting to be able to ‘taste’ the Odell Brewmaster’s Weekend Small Plates Pairing at this point…because the menu looks phenomenal! Remember, neither Deconstruction nor Chocolate Milk Stout have been released to the public, so this is an incredible opportunity to check them out! And between the two - the menu and the unreleased beers - plus the pairings and the guided tour with Doug Odell and our culinary team, it’s an incredible opportunity for just $20!

Remember, Saturday, August 18th from 5 – 6:30pm in Atwater on Gore Creek:

Odell 90 Shilling Ale
Roasted Pheasant Pot Pie
fall vegetables, quail egg, picked herbs

Odell Mercenary Double IPA
Brulèed Bone Marrow
Maui pineapple chutney, brioche crostinis

Odell Deconstruction
Spiced Corn Beef & Hash
sweet potato & granny smith hash, grilled grapes

Odell Chocolate Milk Stout
“Affogato”

Atwater Beer Buzz August 2

Greetings from the craft beer cooler!

‘Tis the season for culture in the Vail Valley, and we’re moving from the Bravo! Summer Music Series to the Vail International Dance Festival. It’s one of our favorite things to do in the summer;  take a picnic basket with goodies and dine on the Gerald R Ford Amphitheatre lawn, while enjoying incredible music and dance from around the world right here in Vail, Colorado.

We’re starting to get really excited for our next Brewmaster’s Weekend with Doug Odell, Founder/Brewmaster of Odell Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, CO! Mark your calendars for the Odell Meet & Greet Open Tasting in the Fireside Bar on Friday, August 17th from 4–7pm and then the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing on Saturday, August 18th from 5–6:30pm.  Reservations are suggested for the Small Plates Pairing, and the cost is a mere $20 for 4 (large) small plates paired with samples of the 4 beers below…complete with narration from Doug Odell and our culinary team with each course.

Doug has chosen the beer selection for the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing, and it includes the following tasty treats:

  • Odell 90 Shilling
  • Odell Myrcenary
  • Odell Deconstruction
  • Odell Lugene

This will be an adventure from the most familiar to the new and not-yet-released, and when the food component is added it will take it all to a new dimension. The chefs are tasting and designing our menu this afternoon, so we'll will have it for you in next week’s email! Reserve your seats now by calling Atwater 970-479-7014 or email Laura with you request.

Lots is happening with our craft beer list this week! Our draft rotation has begun, and at this point we have rotated 2 of our 5 handles. We will continue with the transition this week, although we're guessing this list will still be in effect tomorrow. New on draft are:

  •  Samuel Adams Octoberfest, Boston, MA
  •  Odell St. Lupulin (Extra Pale Ale), Ft. Collins, CO

We also have brought in Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale in bottles, and that’s new on the list today.

Our Friday Night Featured Flight; $7, this week is as follows:

  • Weihenstephaner Hefe-Weiss
  • Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale
  • Breckenridge 471 IPA

Remember, we have our Flights & Bites promotion daily, and that’s 50% off of a Small Plate with the purchase of a Craft Draft Flight from 4–7pm. It’s really fun to experiment with the Small Plate/Craft Beer food pairings, and flights are perfect for that!

Fireside Bar and Atwater on Gore Creek offer complimentary valet parking for our guests.  Overlooking Gore Creek with patio dining, and with easy access to Vail Village via our complimentary shuttle or the Vail Recreation Path outside our back door…we’ve got a craft beer poured and waiting just for you!
