Greetings from the land of snow melt!

The icicles are dripping, the roads are clearing, and it’s feeling like Spring is coming. Although every so often we get another snow storm and reset the process…again.  While we look forward to fantastic rafting and early summer activities, we’re working hard on our summer craft beer programming and have lots of information to share! 


Our biggest news is the new weekend craft beer lodging package that we are offering in June and September. We’re calling it “Sip, Savor & Brew; Atwater’s Culinary Craft Beer Experience”. Essentially, this is an amplified Brewmaster’s Weekend…additional Brewmaster(s), new seminars, evening craft beer discussions, etc. So while you will still be able to enjoy our traditional Meet the Brewmaster open tastings in Fireside and the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairings in Atwater, there are a host of other craft beer-centric events to enjoy throughout the weekend. 

The pricing for the Sip, Savor & Brew Weekends is a great deal. If you book a lodging package with 1 person attending the craft beer events, you get Friday & Saturday night lodging + 1 weekend event pass for $275. If 2 people are attending the craft beer programming, it’s $330. If there are 4 adults sharing a room and attending the craft beer events, it’s $440…and when you do the math, that’s $110 per person. For a craft beer weekend in Vail…not too shabby! 

The schedule of events for the Sip, Savor & Brew Weekends mirrors the Brewmaster’s Weekends. On Friday evening, the Meet the Brewmaster(s) session is 4 – 7pm, as usual. The Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event is scheduled for Saturday at 6pm, as is traditional. However, there will also be two seminars hosted by the Brewmasters and the Atwater Culinary Team on Saturday afternoon, informal craft beer discussions with the Brewmasters on both Friday & Saturday evenings, and a craft beer/sweet treat to close each evening. 

Saturday morning is left open in this schedule (until 2:30pm) so that attendees can take advantage of the resort amenities (Aria Spa & Club, infinity pool & hot tubs, etc.) or choose to undertake one of the many mountain activities available in the area, such as fly fishing on Gore Creek, zip lining, mountain biking down Vail Pass, mountain biking on Vail Mountain, hiking one of the multitudes of area trails, jeep tours, razor tours, half-day raft trips, etc. These mountain & spa activities are not included in the package price, but are an ideal way to make the most of your mountain weekend. Tthe Aria Club, infinity pool and hot tubs are not an extra charge).

For the Spring off-season, we will be continuing our Flights & Bites promotion which includes 50% off of the Small Plate of your choice when you purchase a Craft Draft Flight. This is available daily from 3 – 6pm and 9 – 11pm.

Welcome to the final week of the 2012-13 ski season!

Celebrations and specials abound for this last hurrah, and we’re jumping right on the bandwagon…so we thought we’d let you know early this week! Our Fireside Feature this week, also available in Atwater, is a Winter Craft Beer Close-out for some of our seasonal and holiday products.

John Dover was here last Wednesday representing C2 Imports, and made guests and locals alike happy with his Brunehaut Blonde, St. Martin Brune, and St. Martin Tripel. Many thanks to John and C2 Imports for their time, knowledge, and tasty products! 

Brewmaster’s Weekends came to a close last weekend, and David Zuckerman from Boulder Beer Co. was here for a fantastic weekend of pairings and tastings. Everyone had a wonderful time, but had trouble agreeing on a favorite pairing. Was it the Hazed and Infused with the Black Cherry Cobbler? Or was the Mojo IPA pairing with Seared Black Cod, Green Mango Slaw and Citrus Cardamom? But then the Honey Goat Cheese with the Kinda Blue was delightful and beautiful, too… Many thanks to David, Jenny & Bruce for making the trip and spending the weekend with us! 

We promised to release our new schedule for the Summer Brewmaster’s Weekends in this email, so here we go: 

  • June 28/29 – Dry Dock Brewing & Prost Brewing Co.**
  • July 19/20 – Upslope Brewing Co.
  • August 16/17 – Breckenridge Brewery
  • September 6/7 – Colorado Brewers Guild w/ guests ** 

The ** indicates that this weekend will be a collaboration between multiple breweries/brewmasters with additional craft beer-centric activities throughout the weekend. We will be announcing a special lodging package for these weekends in addition to a local option for the whole weekend AND our Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing/Meet the Brewmaster events will still be available a la carte. 

Stay tuned for further details about the lodging package as well as pricing for the local weekend package! They will be forthcoming in the next edition (2 weeks). The Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event will remain $25/person, and the Meet the Brewmaster event will still be complimentary and open to everyone. 

Throughout off-season we will be featuring our Flights & Bites promotion, which includes 50% off of a small plate with the purchase of a Craft Draft Flight. This is running now, and is available from 3 – 6pm & 9 – 11pm. More details, including promotion times (if any changes), will be available in the next update as well.

Atwater Beer Buzz April 4

Welcome to Spring skiing!

It’s that wonderful time when the sunshine is just as wonderful as the fresh snow, and you can never be sure which you’ll get from one minute to the next…the best of both seasons, a la minute! We’re enjoying lots of both, and heading into a weekend of special events.


David Zuckerman from Boulder Beer Co joins us this weekend for our April Brewmaster’s Weekend, and brings a wealth of experience and tasty beers with him. Friday, he will be co-hosting the Boulder Beer Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event with the Atwater culinary team starting at 6pm. View the menu.  We strongly suggest making a reservation right away (if you haven’t already) for this guided pairing adventure. Saturday afternoon highlights our Meet the Brewmaster program in Fireside, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet & visit with David Zuckerman and try several of his craft beers on an informal basis. This is a complimentary event from 4 – 7pm, and always is open to guests, locals, and the general public. With complimentary valet parking, it’s an easy and inexpensive way to enjoy some great craft beers and perhaps pair with Atwater Small Plates for a delightful evening! 

Starting this afternoon, the Taste of Vail Weekend is a wonderful feature for our Atwater on Gore Creek culinary team! The Lamb Cook-off is from 3 – 6pm in Vail Village, the Mountaintop Picnic Friday afternoon, and the Grand Tasting on Saturday evening. We have planned our Brewmaster’s Weekend to work around the Taste of Vail schedule so our guests can enjoy both events each day without overlapping…and you can do it all!

Next week we will be rolling out our summer Brewmaster’s Weekends with a fun twist, so stay tuned for the scoop!

Please note that there are only a few bottles available of the Funkwerks Saison and the Uinta Sea Legs Baltic Porter, as they were part of the Big Beers Festival Fireside Program in January. This is a special opportunity to try these products, and a portion of the proceeds from these beers are donated to the Vail Valley Charitable Fund.

Our Craft Draft Flight is beginning its off-season rotation today, so you can expect to find most of the following:
