Atwater Beer Buzz March 26

Greetings!  A quick, early update from the snowy, arctic…but sunny… world of Vail!

The Craft Brewers Conference is being held in Washington DC this week, and I know many of you will be there in spirit if not in fact. Remember that the traditional schedule is reversed this time: the Pairing event will be on Friday night and the Meet the Brewmaster tasting will be on Saturday. Craft Beer Buzz - March 21

Greetings from inside the white-out!

We’re on snow storm #1 of 3 that are predicted over the next few days, and are excited to get more and more! It’s a wonderful excuse to ski some fresh powder and sit in front of the fire with a great craft beer afterward…especially during Colorado Craft Beer Week. We’re celebrating with $5 Colorado drafts!

Grand Teton Brewing Co. showed their colors in a fine way last weekend with a busy Meet the Brewmaster session on Friday and a great crowd on Saturday for their Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event. We’re back to ‘sold out’ numbers, due in part to our change in time and it’s delightful to see so many familiar faces! We will keep the new time of 6:00pm for the Small Plates Pairing event going forward. Many thanks to Rob Mullin, Brewmaster, and Chris & Stephen Furbacher for coming up for the weekend and treating us to their time, talent and fantastic products.

Our next Brewmaster’s Weekend comes up quickly on April 5 & 6th. Because it is also Taste of Vail weekend, we will be switching up our events so that the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing will be on Friday April 5th at 6 pm and our Meet the Brewmaster session will be on Saturday from 4 – 7pm. David Zuckerman from Boulder Beer Co. will be joining us for this weekend, and he has chosen his beers for the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing for the culinary team to work their menu magic. Selected beers are as follows:

  • Boulder Beer Kinda Blue
  • Boulder Beer Buffalo Gold
  • Boulder Beer Hazed & Infused
  • Boulder Beer Mojo IPA

Reminder: We do have a special lodging rate for our craft beer folks, so if you’re interested in coming up for the Brewmaster’s Weekend – or any other time for that matter – check this rate first. It is at least 40% off of the rack rate for any time of the year, and if it’s a slower season you’ll find even better deals! Follow this link to check it out:

Wednesday Night this week was special because it’s Colorado Craft Beer Week and Bonfire Brewing Co. is releasing a new beer every day this week! Matt Wirtz, Bonfire Brewmaster, brought several different new beers in addition to the Bonfire Brush Creek Blonde, including an Irish Red, IPA, & Double IPA that our crowd was excited to taste. Spring Break always brings adventurous craft beer folks, and everyone appreciated the Bonfire beers.

Next Wednesday is a unique opportunity to sample a variety of international products, as Tom Jasko will be joining us from Merchant du Vin. Block your calendar from 4:30 – 6:30pm for this celebrated list of products: Lindemans Framboise, Sam Smith Chocolate Stout, Ayinger Brau Weisse, Sam Smith Apricot, and Rochefort 10.

New on our list this week are:

  • Left Hand Polestar Pilsner, Longmont, CO
  • Avery White Rascal, Belgian Wit, Boulder, CO
  • Odell Meddler, Oud Bruin, Ft. Collins, CO (cellar list)

Expect our draft line-up to begin rotating over the next 10 days to our next fantastic selection, and consider this your fair warning last call for the following current draft products:

  • Dry Dock Apricot Blonde
  • Samuel Adams Alpine Spring
  • AC Golden Colorado Native
  • Firestone Walker Union Jack
  • Young’s Double Chocolate Stout (on nitro)

Enjoy the wonderful snow & we look forward to seeing you soon. Remember there’s always complimentary valet parking for our esteemed guests of Fireside and Atwater…and welcome to Spring!

Saturday Rob will be co-hosting the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing event with the Atwater on Gore Creek culinary team, and these are always a special treat.

The cost is $25++/person, and there are only 8 spots left at this point. You can email Laura (or) call Atwater directly at 970-479-7014 to hold your seats. Please do call to cancel asap if you are holding seats and will not be able to attend. We will maintain a wait list of interested parties.

Our next Brewmaster’s Weekend is coming up quickly, and our Atwater Sweepstakes Winner for Boulder Beer Brewmaster’s Weekend on April 5 & 6th is Diane Brown! Congratulations Diane, and we’re looking forward to hosting you for a complimentary night at the Vail Cascade complete with two seats to the Small Plates & Craft Beer Pairing!

  • Look for some special beers to be poured that night!
  • March Madness! It’s basketball insanity, and for the duration of March Madness we will be offering $5 Craft Draft pints.

As mentioned, this Wednesday’s Craft Beer Tasting will feature Bonfire Brewing Co. Bonfire is releasing a new beer every day this week in honor of Colorado Craft Beer Week, so expect to see some interesting beers on the table! Join us Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:30pm in Fireside and enjoy $2 pizza slices in addition to the complimentary samples.

Oskar Blues rocked the house this week, and we kept Dylan busy for the full 2 hour period on Wednesday. Happy guests drank everything he brought with him – down to the demo bottles! It truly is Spring Break. Not sure what the favorite beer was for the evening, but many people enjoyed the Mamma’s Little Yella Pils, IPA fans were psyched to see both Deviant Dale’s IPA and Gubna, and Dale’s Pale Ale is always the signature go-to item…even if people can’t always tell you who makes it! Thanks to Dylan for his time, product and knowledge. They served him well and we appreciate it!

Although there is nothing new to report on the craft beer list this week, several items are very close to rotating and the next draft rotation will be starting over the next couple of weeks. It’s going to be cool and exciting as usual, and we'll keep you posted as things change.

Our Craft Draft Flight this week remains as follows:

  • Dry Dock Apricot Blonde
  • Samuel Adams Alpine Spring
  • AC Golden Colorado Native
  • Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA
  • Young’s Double Chocolate Stout (on nitro)

We look forward to seeing you for any and all of the above adventures, and encourage you to take advantage of the complimentary valet parking as our Fireside and Atwater guests as well!

Thank you – as always – for your support of our programming!
