Oskar Blues Brewmaster's Weekend at Vail Cascade April 6-7, 2012

What wine is to regions of Europe, craft beer is to Colorado. Paying homage to the barley, hops and avant-garde brewmasters that fill our mugs, Vail Cascade Resort is now offering a monthly educational series that showcases a different brewmaster, enabling patrons to informally learn about Colorado’s craft beer movement.  Known as the 2012 Craft Beer, Creative Cuisine Series, brewmasters and beer lovers can convene at Vail Cascade for two days of mingling, learning and sampling. The format includes a happy hour craft beer sampling session with the guest brewmaster and other craft beer and food pairing events throughout the weekend.

The Craft Beer, Creative Cuisine series is pleased to host Dave Chichura of Oskar Blues Brewery on Friday, April 6 and Saturday April 7. Come join us for a fun and informative look at beer and the craft beer revolution from one of the true experts!  For all the details, learn more about our dining events in Vail or call 970.479.7014 for reservations.

Guinness Irish Stout, Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout, Skawork Orange Cream Stout and Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout will be flowing for your enjoyment.

What's St. Patrick's Day without some traditional Irish grub?  Enjoy cured corned beef and cabbage crowned with a fried egg....paired with Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro for $22, or without the beer...$18.

And for the cherry on the cake....a Guinness brownie with White Chocolate Bailey's Ice Cream and Adam's Stout Ice Cream!

So wear your green, bring your designated driver, and shout for stout.  Heck, everyone’s Irish on St. Paddy’s Day!

Here’s an Irish toast to you!
May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.
~Irish Blessing

St. Patrick’s Day Fun Facts
St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17 because that is the feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. One of the funniest facts about St. Patrick's Day is that St. Patrick, who died in the 5th century, wasn't Irish---he was born in Britain!

St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland.

According to Sean Markey of National Geographic, "By law, pubs in Ireland were closed on St. Patrick's Day, a national religious holiday, as recently as the 1970s."

People originally wore green to illustrate the promotion of Ireland otherwise known as "The Green Isle".   If you don’t wear green, then you can be pinched, although no one knows where that tradition came from!

In Chicago, the Chicago River is dyed green with a special dye that only lasts a few hours.

The name “lephrechaun” has several origins. It could be from the Irish Gaelic word “leipreachan,” which means “a kind of aqueous sprite.” Or, it could be from “leath bhrogan,” which means “shoemaker.”

It’s suggested there are about 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover.  Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Vail Cascade Resort!
